Princess Cruises is a cruise line headquartered in Santa Clarita CA in the U.S. and incorporated in Bermuda.
The company, which was previously a subsidiary of P&O Princess Cruises, is now one of the ten cruise ship brands owned by the largest cruise ship operator in the world Carnival Corporation & plc. Princess accounts for around 19% share of its revenue and is part of Holland America Group, controlling the three Carnival brands based on the U.S. West Coast.
The line’s ships sail worldwide and are marketed to American and international travelers.
Princess Cruises company was made famous by the TV series “The Love Boat”, in which Pacific Princess was featured. The brand new Royal Princess became line’s flagship in May 2013, and a year later was joined by a new sister-ship, Regal Princess.
The 143,000-ton, 3,560-passenger Majestic Princess is among the largest cruise ships sailing the seas.
The Majestic carries with a Chinese name, chosen by the Chinese employees of Carnival. It is translated as Grand World / Grand Spirit.
The signature features of sister ships Regal and Royal will be on the new ship as well, including multiple dining venues, cantilevered SkyWalk, multi-story atrium, outdoor cinema Movies Under the Stars, adults-only Sanctuary complex, T’ai Chi at sea, ballroom dancing, Chinese satellite TV channels and subtitled Hollywood movies are among the Chinese experiences of “Princess Class”, rolled out to the local cruise market.
Princess Cruises announced on Feruary 8, 2016 on Chinese New Year, that its first cruise ship designed and built specifically for the China market, Majestic Princess, will also be the first in the fleet to debut a new livery design featuring the iconic logo of the company.
Over the next few years, the elegant livery design will roll out fleetwide. According to Princess Cruises, the design symbolizes the gracefulness of ocean waves and represents the adventure and excitement of discovering the best the world has to present on a Princess cruise vacation.
Majestic Princess is scheduled for delivery on April 4, 2017 in Rome and will homeport in Shanghai.
She will offer many of the same special features as Regal Princess and Royal Princess, including a multistory atrium serving as a social hub, a top-deck glass-bottomed over-the-ocean SeaWalk, extending 28ft beyond the edge of the ship, Princess Live! interactive studio, as well as a special Chef Table Lumiere private dining experience surrounding diners in a curtain of light.
The 3,560-guest Majestic Princess will also boast a number of new venues created specifically for the China market, the details of which will be soon revealed.
Cruise itinerary program
Majestic Princess itinerary program is based on year-round cruises to South Korea and Japan, with departures from ship’s homeport Shanghai, China.
Most Majestic Princess staterooms are 220-230-sq.foot balcony rooms (1088). All outside staterooms (about 80% of all) have balconies, and many of them appeal to families with kids.
There are a total of 1780 staterooms in 38 categories. 36 are the wheelchair accessible rooms. The largest aboard Majestic Princess are the Balcony Suites (440 ft2). The ship has no Oceanview cabins.
Dining options – Food & Drinks
There are many for-fee dining options onboard Majestic Princess, but guests who would rather not pay are offered enough quality and variety to satisfy. Those who prefer tradition, will choose between the three main dining rooms. World Fresh Marketplace is the buffet option, providing a more casual vibe. Passengers who want to have lunch in their swimsuits can take a burger from Trident Grill or a slice at Prego Pizzeria. Indoors, Alfredo’s features delicious calzones, salads and thin-crust pizza.

The bulk of performance action takes place in Majestic’s Princess Theater, situated on decks 6 and 7. The entertainment is excellent and varied, with a beat that is quite innovative. In addition to the production shows, the Princess theater hosts other acts including vocalists and instrumentalists.
